As the NYS-20A enters the Town of Wales it is named Big Tree Road and the speed limit is 55 mph. As the road gets closer to the Hamlet of Wales Center, the speed limit is reduced to 45 mph. As the NYS-20a enters Wales Center the speed limit is reduced again to 35 mph. Many out-of-town motorists are stopped on this stretch of road. The typical speeding ticket charges a motorist with speeding between 50 and 60 mph in the 35 mph zone.

The Aurora Expressway (NYS-400) originates on the outskirts of Buffalo and runs southeast. Out of Buffalo, it is a four-lane highway, two lanes in each direction, with a grassy median. The speed limit is 65 mph. The NYS-400 ends at it runs southeast into the Town of Wales and the Hamlet of South Wales. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and then NYS-400 becomes Route 16 (NYS-16). Route 16 is one lane in each direction and the speed limit is reduced to 40 mph. A short distance later, the speed limit is reduced again to 35 mph. Motorists do not always adjust to the lower speed limits and are stopped and ticketed.
