Fredonia is a village in Chautauqua County, New York. It is right near the eastern shore of Lake Erie. The village is within the Town of Pomfret and just south of the City of Dunkirk. , Fredonia’s population was estimated at 10,000. It is the most populated village in the county. SUNY Fredonia is located in the village, so it is considered a “college town”. Fredonia was first incorporated in 1829.
